Betsy Briggs Cathcart
From model portfolios and runway shows, to music videos, national television commercials and print campaigns, Salon BBC owner, Betsy Briggs Cathcart, brings years of experience and expertise to create an individualized style and overall image for her diverse clientele.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Nashville TN, Betsy's interest in imaging was sparked at an early age. Her family recounts stories of Betsy fixing her grandfather's hair before dinner when she was only five years old, and tagging along with her grandmother to the salon. When Betsy hit her teenage years, she was struck with cystic acne. After many facial prescriptions, she was encouraged by her mom to go into modeling school to help build confidence and knowledge of basic "walking and talking." Motivated by her experience in modeling school, Betsy began on her career path as an image consultant.
After attending University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Cosmetology school, Betsy's diverse background includes working in numerous areas of the talent industry, including stints as a talent agent, photographer rep., talent convention staff and a hair/make up artist.
Throughout her career, Betsy has worked with some of the nation's top photographers and stylists including such noted photographers as Nashville's Jim McGuire and New York's Beth Boldt. She has crafted images for promotional campaigns for a number of national companies such as Toyota and Budweiser, and also worked on the set as part of the crew for numerous video shoots, including Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and the Mavericks.
Betsy's decision to "return to the chair" and open Salon BBC on Music Row was fueled by her desire to spend more time with her husband, Dan, and raise her two daughters. She also makes "giving back" to the community a priority for the Salon by supporting a number of local causes including Dolly Parton's "Imagination Library," "Eating Disorders of Tennessee," and working with cancer patients and those afflicted with Alopecia.
Utilizing more than 15 years of experience in the talent industry, Betsy concentrates on the overall image for an individual, creating ease to each style so it can be duplicated at home, on the runway, in photography or on screen.
